To Build own Website you need A hosting service, where you upload your website, you can then be searched and found by the internet, you upload and store all the files for the website to the server, you can also have sub domains for particular off shoots of your site, your files will look similar to your windows document files.

· Do they have a website builder to get you started
Costs can vary, a basic web hosting plan will be sufficient at this stage, you can upgrade as your website grows.
Keep in mind when you build own website all companies will want to up sell you a bigger package, do you really need it?

To Build own Website You will also need the information to direct your domain to your web hosting server if you choose to separate the two.
This is called NS (Nameservers) and this will need to be easily found, you will find the name server when you log in and search for NAME SERVER, generally under domain management or hosting management under that domain/ hosting package, with godaddy you will easily find the name server details in the Domain management area.
If you have a domain name with one registrar example (Godaddy) and hosting with another example (Hostgator) you will need to find the
Nameserver information at (Hostgator).
It will look something like this,
NS1234.Hostgator.com
NS1235.Hostgator.com.
This will direct your domain name to your hosting company; the initial redirection may take 24 hrs or so.
Once the change has been made you will notice the Domain manager will say not Hosted here, the name server will be directed to your hosting server.
You will still be able to manage your domain names from the domain registrar, and manage your Hosting from your new hosting company.
To Build own Website we prefer to register a Domain with one Company and Host through another, this is to ensure one company will not have entire control over our website, if our Host was to be shut down for some reason we would still have our Domain Name, allowing us to find a new host and keep our domain name intact.
