Basic overview of website directories
Build own website
Your website is made up of file groups and directories, similar to your documents folders,
/ home home directory not visible publicly
public_ftp Files that are publicly avail for ftp here set to 0755
Public _html Publicly visible web pages here set to 0750
you will start out in / home directory when connecting with your ftp client (file transfer protocol)
/home/yoursite/public_ftp/
this is directory used for anon ftp access (if enabled)
/home/yoursite/public_html/
the public html contains the files for your site, viewed by anyone on the internet.
place files in the public_html or a subdirectory of public_html
the index page will be the page that the public will see for that directory,
e.g.: index.html, Default.html
It is very important to place files in the correct place,
Or they either won’t be visible or will not work properly
